Indoor Air Pollution’s Nemesis: The Sagegreenlife Living Wall

September 7, 2017

Do you remember the days when smoking was allowed in public buildings? Since ordinances have banished public smoking, it’s unlikely you are thinking about indoor air quality. Yet even with public smoking gone, there are still dangerous, invisible, toxic particles lurking in the air you breathe.

Common indoor air pollutants can include:

  • Cleaning Products
  • Pesticides
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Carbon Monoxide
  • Benzyne
  • Trichloroethylene
  • Toluene
  • Octane
  • Airborne Particulates

While we know plants need carbon dioxide to live, scientists don’t actually know how or if they use everything else they absorb. The point is, they just do, which is great news for humans.

In fact, scientists in Oslo, Norway found that “Plant intervention reduced complaints such as coughing and fatigue by 37% and 30% respectively, while the self-reported level of dry or hoarse throat and dry or itching facial skin each decreased by approximately 23%.”

 Plants offer psychological benefits, too.

Researchers at Surrey University attached sensors to two control groups to measure skin conductivity, blood pressure, and heart rate. They found that the group of people that were placed in a room with plants not only displayed less stress but recovered more quickly from stress than the participants in the rooms without plants.

They also showed participants a series of photographs of offices featuring varying amounts of plants and asked them to rank the offices according to which they preferred. Not surprisingly, the more plants in the picture, the better the response.

So, what does greenery mean for businesses, schools, offices, etc.?

  • Healthier, happier building occupants
  • Less stress
  • Greater productivity
  • Better concentration
  • Fewer work or school days

Which is why you need a Sagegreenlife Living Wall!

Sagegreenlife living walls are low-maintenance, water efficient, stunningly beautiful, versatile in extreme climate zones, and modular to fit any space or even wrap around corners. Water distribution and management is a key feature to sagegreenlifes system. It allows water to circulate evenly throughout the entire wall and increases plant survivability to 97%.

The cornerstone of the patented hydroponic wall system is the Biotile®. The tiles use a layered basalt rock fiber (known as Rockwool) that evenly distributes water, oxygen, and nutrients and does not decay or break down over time. Rockwool has been used for the last half-century in hydroponic production greenhouses. Because it does not degrade, it can be reused and recycled. It also absorbs 10-14X the amount of water than soil based systems.

Real estate developers, architects, and interior designers can design their own wall or work with a sagegreenlife senior horticulturist to find the perfect look for your space. Once you’ve chosen your design, it takes approximately eight-to-ten weeks to have your wall fully-grown to be delivered and installed.

Sagegreenlife freestanding walls (like the one above) are portable, have a self-contained irrigation system and can be used as living partitions. All they need is a standard outlet and they’re ready to get to work for you.
